Entrepreneurship is considered a male bastion; of course, there are a few exceptions like Kiran Majumdar of Biocon. But in the crowded Small & medium business space it’s tough for even, men to succeed, not because of any other reason, you have to stay long hours, meet a lot of people, travel, etc. but there are quite a lot of women entrepreneurs equally fighting and achieving their dreams too …

I had the privilege to be a panelist in selecting the “Successful Women Entrepreneur Achievement Award-2021” by a Tamil business chapter, for me, it’s a thought-provoking session.

We interviewed 14 women entrepreneurs from TN, Singapore, and Dubai. Indeed, it was a pleasure and a mind-opening session for me. I learned a lot from these successful women entrepreneurs.

Most of the Women I talked with had the same view, they are not looking for any special consideration, in fact, they asked me, in business warfare, where is the difference between Men and Women?  so I have to change my preconceived  notions about women in business

Before the interview, my initial thought was, these ladies might be second fiddle with their husbands or doing a support role in the family business, but no one. No one carried someone’s dreams. It’s their vision of doing business. Each one had their individuality.

I found one common thing among all the women entrepreneurs, there is no hype, they are not expecting any special treatment, and they are simple and level-headed. Best among all the qualities for the envy of Men, they don’t have any STRESS of doing business. Management & Leadership comes naturally to them. The way they manage the family beautifully, they manage their business too. Men entrepreneurs take note here

In the interview process, my last question to all the women entrepreneurs was on work-life balance, I thought they will fail here.

To my surprise, women entrepreneurs are enjoying it. They feel better and relieved compared to the regular 9-5 jobs. They are enjoying the freedom of doing business. Only for men, entrepreneurship becomes a jail. Gents, please take note here, and learn from them.

Though each woman has an inspiring story, and each one deserves a separate article to justify their achievement, for the sake of time for readers   I compromise myself and share the excerpts of my interview.

Vanigam has given 5 winners and 3 rising stars, but my verdict is every woman entrepreneur is a winner.

Here is a quick run of the participants:

1. Akiladeshwari of Maks Bella International is a vibrant lady, making her strong presence in a business forum, She has trained hundreds of students and sent them for overseas education.
2. Nalini Natvarlal –Singapore: A real fighter, fought against the odds and successfully running a Corporate Secretaryship consulting firm in Singapore, a super mom, and a tireless worker.
3. Shanti Ayer: Born as a premature baby of 6 months, took Yoga as a way to overcome her anomalies, and now she is proving the power of Yoga to the world. A premature baby to a miracle Lady.
4. Kannammal: An all-around performer, in business, family, and social activities. Trusted financial consultant for many families, running a professional firm using the latest technologies to serve their customers.
5. Dr.Lalitha Ashokan– Dubai: Environmental & Safety Training firm, one of the well-known consulting firms in Dubai, Safety engineering is mostly male job,I have not seen women in the Safety domain but Dr.Laltha is setting a trend that too in UAE.
6. Gajalakshmi: running a real estate firm, she closed many deals. A highly competitive area to survive a time-demanding job. She has earned the trust of her clients.
7. Nirmala: Doing a business that she knows the best, selling homemade Masalas, delivered to home. Interested readers, please support her. Her determination will make it a big brand.
8. Haripriya Vasudevan: A relentless worker, running a printing shop, adapting to modern technologies, and managing her family and business well enough.
9. K.Buvana: doing what’s close to her heart, she brings traditional and organically grown Rice to the busy household of Chennai; a bridge between the farmers and city consumers.
10. Vidhya Sarvanaraj; a wellness & nutrition specialist. Her husband is a busy Architect but she pursues her passion in the wellness industry. A wellness consultant with some marquee clients
11. ABK Gayathri: Travel & Tourism: She knows the method of doing business, Even in the tough time of Covid; she managed to get the visas done for her clients. She knows where to press the button. a highly dependable person.
12. Tamil Selvi: A, well-trained life insurance agent helping many families for a secure life.
13. JC.R.M.Manjula Kannan: Technical Training: even in the Covid time she managed to bring new courses on Cooking, and Bakery and made herself relevant. Helped many of my fellow women entrepreneurs to be self-reliant.
14. Poongodi: Insurance Consultant: well aware of the nuances of the insurance industry setting an example of not wasting time.

Each one of them is unique in their way of doing business, no matter what is their background, or what’s the struggles they faced, they all have one thing in common: they are all working for the good self of others.

They derive their happiness from their customer success that’s the business lesson I learned from these Women Entrepreneurs.
