Extraordinary success in sales:
Do you know what I consider the secret of “successful accomplishment?” my mentor once asked me, answering himself “single-minded focus” that gives extraordinary success in sales
Since then I thought of that good many times. I have started enthusiastically to develop one idea or an activity only to leave it half carried out.
I started learning typewriting, left it halfway
Attempted spoken Hindi classes, only to say ek Kisan raguthatha
Chased hundreds of customers, gaining none.
My list is endless, and I could not explain my frustration. Out of despair, I reached out to my mentor; he asked me the same question: what is the one thing you are trying to do in your life
I couldn’t answer him
He handed me a tiny little book “The One thing- the simple truth behind extraordinary results” he asked me to read and return it.
I read completely; it was a transformational moment that changed my course of life
The book repeatedly asked only one question
The 1 Thing Mantra :
“What’s the one thing I can do, such that by doing it everything else will be easier “
I started answering the questions about my phases of life
For health I started practicing Yoga, , even though its tough and boring in the beginning,I persisted
To mental strength, I started meditation, it’s 12 years now, and I hardly missed a day in my schedule
With single-mindedness I started approaching my customer, I achieved extraordinary success in sales
I looked back at my successes and failures. Wherever I had a single-minded focus I had tremendous success, where I missed my focus. My failures followed.
Look around the most successful businesses. You name any brand from Apple to Amazon they are living the one thing.
When we started GreatWorks, we had many ideas, we could do Sales / Digital Marketing/ Websites/ CRM/ Recruitments, doing all of this looked lucrative, but we lived the one thing and we want to focus only on Sales Performance.
When you get the one thing you see the business world differently, if your company doesn’t know what it’s one thing is, then the company one thing is to find out
For Salespeople, I will say, if there is one prospect you particularly want to sell, one company, whose business you are eager to get, concentrate on that one and persist you will inevitably win that customer. If you are right there with the persistent single purpose, you will find resistance weak–and the door will open to you. You will achieve extraordinary success in sales.
