2019 is nearly over.
As I look back, I realize it’s mostly been a good year for us at GreatWorks. I hope it was the same for you. If you have two minutes for me, write back and tell me the best thing that happened to you this year. I love to hear that.
Usually, I talk about Sales or business, coming close to the yearend I want to share an important topic, what all the successful business leaders have in common. If you are taking a New Year’s resolution, (if you still do!) please read through the end.
Let’s dive in
————————
Last, to last week, a small incident flamed my inspiration, in fact, that incident went viral too.
The God of Cricket- Sachin, while he was in Chennai tweeted, he wanted to meet a waiter who had given a tip about his arm pad, how it affects his performance.
My inspiration is not about the gratitude showed by Sachin, it’s about the champion mindset, someone considered a master in his trade, still taking a lesson from a waiter.
I reflect on myself, did I ever talk to a waiter, forget the waiter, do I take a lesson from someone in my trade, someone junior, etc, my honest answer is No. How about You?
It made me think
I got curious about what distinguishes champions from average players; a leader and an average worker.
I dig in…
There were tons and tons of research done by international Universities mostly in the US. Famous social psychoanalyst and author Carol Dweck deeply dwells in her book- Mindset
So what’s the finding? What makes successful business leaders different from the average? if we know a pattern we all could copy-paste? right
Are the Leaders are good in people management – not really few are well known for their arrogance
Do the champions have an extra edge in their skills – Not really most don’t even have the basic skills in their trade at the beginning
Are the leaders good in their strategies and execution – Not really most even don’t score here.
So what’s the common thing? Which behavior I could copy-paste
Did they really find a pattern – Yes?
The one thing the Champions and successful business leaders have in common is: they have a
Growth- Mindset, they are constant learners, they take every opportunity to learn, they are not what they are the last year, they learn from fellow People, from Books, From Learning forums, from classroom Training.
I am not finishing here.
I am a self-doubter, I don’t believe in US studies straightaway, I want to check does it hold true in Indian conditions too.
I tested, I watched successful business leaders, and yes they did the same thing. It exactly fits here. Be it in Chennai, Madurai, or Silicon Valley. The leaders in any field have only one thing in common.
It’s the Growth- Mindset.
If I am allowed to do only one thing this 2020 let me have a Growth Mindset, the rest all will follow
Let’s have a growth mindset. Let’s commit, we will not be the same what we were in 2019, not by age or weight by Mindset.
Merry X-Mas and wishing you Growthfull 2020
With Love and Peace
Sincerely
