The decision making models- For personnel and team productivity :
A few days back I received a marriage invitation from one of my business chapter friend. The invitation itself was so grand, looking like a gift box.
My immediate thinking, how much gift I need to give in this marriage
My next thought, will my friend return this gift money in my son’s marriage, maybe after 8 years
Or do I need to give a gift at all, or just tag along with chapter friends and escape
So many thinking on my mind, but on the way of my drive, I decided and enjoyed the party.
The next day morning I was in my regular consulting call
The discussion was like a war room discussion; Salespeople are demanding to continue a product line, the production team is saying it’s tough to maintain quality standards, everyone is in their stands, the business owner asked me a question,
Ramesh, what’s your recommendation, how could we decide on this?
It is a bouncer question for me, but to prove my consulting worthiness I shared my view. We made a decision
Every day we make hundreds of decisions, some decisions are simple, like how much to gift, and some decisions are complicated and crucial, which will impact our lives and business.
My thinking after the call is my decisions are scientifically backed. Did I consider all the options or I just relayed my experiences?
What if I or you haven’t faced the situation before?
As the saying goes,
“If the only tool you have is a hammer, you see every problem as a nail”
Most times, the only tool we rely on is our experience. That’s a flawed model.
As a leader, you feel increasing pressure to solve your organizational complex challenges with little time or resources.
Business owners are looking for predictable outcomes, especially SME business owners with less or no resources. We expect positive outcomes.
Added to that, we have only a small timeframe to act.
So how do we make decisions with clarity?
Is there help?
Yes
That’s when I bumped into a little book decision making by Mikael Krogerus and Roman Tschappeler and a few other books, which helped me to understand how some of the world’s greatest business leaders are making decisions and the models they use.
There are at least 50 decision making models to help us make a decision. Some tools are as easy as how much to gift to someone and some tools help to take a complex decision like a Black Swan model or a Monte Carlo Simulation.
These models help us get forced thinking to get out of the problem, will make us think in different directions otherwise we drive emotionally, cannot see the darker side of the picture
Each model has a specific purpose and a use case; each decision model will help in our personal and business productivity
A warrior is as powerful as the tool he uses
When you have the right minds and the decision models like this at your disposal, any complex challenge is solvable
In each blog, I cover a business model, the practical use cases, and a simple explanation of how to use this. Trust me, these are well researched and widely used by highly productive people and teams.
Daily, we all ask the same question
How I can be more productive. How I can live more happily, how to make effective decisions
These tools will help you
I pass these tools to you from others
So what’s the favor you can do for me?
Do the same thing, pass it to your friends, colleagues, or your employees?
My intention is to make you & your teams more productive get an edge over others
Will You
